Meet the Creatives: Tanya Webber on finding joy, connection, and creative momentum at The Station

For some artists, the right space can change everything. Just ask Tanya Webber. Since moving into her studio at The Station Creative Workspace in late 2024, she’s found more than just a room to paint – she’s found her “happy place,” a thriving community, and a fresh wave of creative momentum.

“It’s what I call my happy place,” Tanya Webber says. “I am so much more productive when I’m in the studio than I ever was when I was practicing out of my spare room at home.”

Upstairs at The Station, Tanya has set up a light-filled studio where she works on her distinctive mixed media acrylic pieces. She also runs her popular Paint and Sip workshops in the exhibition space downstairs, inviting the wider community to connect with art in a relaxed, welcoming way.

Her current body of work, titled Human, is all about emotional storytelling through the eyes. “It’s about how we can see into people’s hearts through their eyes, which manage to tell their story even from a mere glance,” she explains.

While the physical space has helped her practice thrive, it’s the people and community around The Station that have truly made the difference. “Since moving back to Wagga and becoming a tenant at The Station, I have met so many other creatives and have quickly built a vast network of people who I consult with, collaborate with, or can just grab a coffee with.”

Support from Eastern Riverina Arts has played a big role too. “They’ve been wonderful in helping me get my Paint and Sip business off the ground,” Tanya says.

Now she’s encouraging others to come see what The Station is all about during the official launch weekend, May 16–18. “There’ll be something for everyone,” she promises. “It’s a great opportunity to learn what Eastern Riverina Arts is all about and what The Station has to offer. If you’re looking for a space that fosters creativity and productivity and is very reasonably priced, then The Station certainly ticks all of those boxes.”

Curious to see it for yourself? Drop by The Station launch weekend, May 16–18.
